Penta Consulting Achieves Level 1 B-BBEE in South Africa for 2026

2026 Penta B-BBEE

Penta Consulting is proud to confirm our continued achievement of Level 1 B-BBEE accreditation for 2026, maintaining the highest possible rating under South Africa’s Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) framework. As part of our commitment to benefit the global communities in which we operate, this marks an annual milestone achievement in South Africa.

What is B-BBEE?

Established in the years following South Africa’s first democratic elections in 1994, the B-BBEE framework plays a critical role in addressing historic inequality and driving more inclusive economic growth. It is designed to ensure that opportunity is more evenly distributed, enabling individuals and communities to participate fully in the country’s economic future.

Each year, organisations operating in South Africa are independently assessed across a range of criteria that measure their contribution to meaningful transformation. This includes evaluating leadership, operational practices, and the extent to which businesses are actively supporting long-term economic empowerment. These assessments cumulatively then score an overall grade between 1-8 (1 being highest, 8 being lowest).

Changing the story of opportunity

In South Africa, opportunity is never just individual, it’s always multiplied. Because one person’s success often supports an entire network, with a single income often helping sustain up to eight or more people.

This reality reframes what impact means. When Penta invests in, or assists one individual, the outcome extends far beyond a single career milestone or qualification. It creates stability within families, ensures food on tables, and builds a foundation for long-term security. The effect is both immediate and generational, turning employment into a catalyst for wider social change.

From training to transformation

For many years, skills development followed a conventional approach, focusing on broad IT disciplines such as programming or end-user computing. While valuable, these pathways often fed into already saturated job markets, making it challenging for learners to secure employment after completing their training.

Recognising this challenge, Penta shifted its approach intentionally towards skills that meet real, current demand. This led to the introduction of a drone pilot licensing programme, a highly specialised skillset where talent scarcity creates genuine and immediate employment opportunities.

The impact of this addition is profound. Participants complete the programme with practical, employable expertise and, crucially, a clear route into work. In many cases, this has meant individuals moving from limited prospects into skilled roles, unlocking entirely new levels of earning potential and career progression.

For some, we have already observed that transformation to have been life changing. Individuals who previously earned modest incomes have transitioned into roles that allow them to support families, invest in housing, and build financial independence. These are outcomes that would have seemed out of reach only a year earlier. A trainee from last year recently told us they are now pursuing further training to eventually become a commercial pilot.

Opening doors that were once closed

The true power of these programmes lies in who they reach. Many participants would not have had access to traditional higher education due to financial barriers such as registration fees or a lack of bursaries.

By removing these obstacles, Penta Consulting is helping create alternative pathways that value potential over privilege. Selection is not driven solely by academic background, but by attitude, ambition, and a willingness to succeed.

This approach ensures that opportunity is extended to individuals who might otherwise have been excluded, enabling them to step into industries and roles that were previously inaccessible. The ripple effect is significant. As one person succeeds, entire households and communities experience the benefit.

Investing in communities, not just careers

Penta’s commitment goes beyond individual skills development. The organisation actively invests in communities through broader socio-economic development initiatives, ensuring that impact is both deep and wide-reaching.

In Cape Town, for example, community-based training programmes equip unemployed individuals with practical, systems-focused experience, such as working with digital booking platforms commonly used in hospitality environments. These programmes bridge the gap between learning and employability, giving participants skills that translate directly into job opportunities.

Alongside training, there is targeted financial support for entrepreneurship. In one instance, Penta provided funding to an IT-focused business owner, enabling the purchase of essential equipment including computers and advanced technology tools. This investment allowed the business to grow, creating not only self-sufficiency but also the capacity to support and employ others within the community.

Seeing impact, not just measuring it

What sets these initiatives apart is the clarity of their impact. In a country where economic disparity is deeply felt, even modest income increases can transform lives.

The difference between earning a small wage and accessing a skilled role is transformative. It means the ability to provide for extended families, to invest in education, and to move from uncertainty to stability.

These are visible, lived outcomes. Homes being built, families being supported, and futures being reshaped. It is this tangible change from which we derive real meaning from our Level 1 B-BBEE rating.

Why Level 1 matters and why it’s only the beginning

Level 1 B-BBEE is the highest standard within the framework. It demonstrates a sustained commitment to transformation, inclusive growth, and measurable contribution.

But at Penta, the significance goes further. This achievement highlights what is possible when businesses align commercial success with meaningful impact. By focusing on relevant skills, supporting entrepreneurship, and investing in communities, Penta demonstrates that change can be both scalable and sustainable.

A responsibility to continue

Perhaps the most powerful aspect of this achievement is the recognition that the work is ongoing. The need for opportunity, access, and investment remains vast, and the success seen so far only reinforces the importance of continuing these efforts.

For every individual whose life has changed, there are many more who can benefit from similar support. This is why our Level 1 rating is not viewed as an endpoint, but as a commitment to keep evolving programmes, to reach more people, and to deepen the impact already being made.

At Penta Consulting, this achievement represents our belief that the most meaningful investments a business can make are those that empower people to thrive.
