We are seeking a highly skilled MPLS Migration Engineer to lead a critical network transformation initiative. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end migration of our existing network infrastructure from a Juniper-based environment to a robust Cisco-based architecture. This position requires a seasoned professional capable of navigating complex design challenges, executing rigorous lab testing, and managing high-stakes production cutovers. You will serve as the primary technical authority, ensuring seamless service continuity throughout the transition.
Key Responsibilities
• Migration Strategy & Design: Develop comprehensive migration plans, including low-level design (LLD) documentation, migration paths, and rollback procedures to facilitate a transition from Juniper to Cisco platforms.
• Lab Validation: Build and maintain complex lab environments to replicate production traffic patterns, conduct interoperability testing, and validate configurations prior to deployment.
• Implementation & Execution: Lead the physical and logical implementation of the new Cisco core and edge infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption to customer traffic.
• Network Integration: Oversee the cutover of legacy services, performing configuration conversion, verifying routing protocols, and ensuring end-to-end service validation.
• Troubleshooting & Optimization: Provide Tier 3 support during the migration lifecycle, diagnosing and resolving complex routing, switching, and MPLS-related issues in real-time.
• Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of network topology, configuration standards, and post-migration performance metrics to ensure long-term stability.
Technical Requirements
• Core Networking: Expert-level knowledge of MPLS, Segment Routing (SR), and advanced interior/exterior gateway protocols (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP).
• Platform Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco 8000 series (8K), NCS, ASR 1000, ASR 9000, and 7600 platforms.
• Multi-Vendor Proficiency: Mandatory, deep-level experience with Juniper routing and switching platforms to effectively map features and translate configurations to the Cisco ecosystem.
• Traffic Engineering: Proven experience in implementing and managing MPLS Traffic Engineering (MPLS-TE) and Segment Routing traffic engineering policies.
• Migration Tools: Proficiency in scripting (Python, Ansible, or similar) for configuration automation and bulk migration tasks is highly desirable.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• CCIE Service Provider (SP) certification is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in network engineering within a large-scale Service Provider or Enterprise environment.
• Demonstrated track record of managing and executing large-scale, multi-vendor network migrations.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain composed and effective under the pressure of critical, time-sensitive cutovers.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into actionable project plans for cross-functional teams.
