Paul Clark & Richard Wilson
Both Paul and Richard left school at 16 with no formal qualifications between them but both with a burning desire to succeed along with bags of ambition and determination. Paul was brought up in Liverpool and Richard in South London and they didn’t meet until their early twenties when Richard was part of the London club scene and Paul was running a specialist high performance car operation.
In 1997 Paul and Richard worked together for a large international recruitment company and after a year or so just felt that they could ‘do it better’ so in March 1998 they launched Penta Consulting.
- Determined to outperform the market and competitors financially and in terms of customer service
- Had no money, no brand, no name, no systems or processes
- Worked from a basement in Wallington – salesmen by day – business managers by night
- Focussed on growing a business that consistently delivered value
- Big on ideas and even bigger on making them work – nothing was impossible – every challenge was an opportunity
- Flexible and adaptable
- Committed to valuing and recognising the people who worked with them
- Provided unrivalled training and personal development opportunities for staff to help them realise their career and earning potentials.
Very quickly Penta became one of the most innovative recruitment companies forging new ways of working around the globe. This ground breaking approach to doing business overseas opened up new business opportunities and in 2006 Penta became the only technical staffing company to secure an exclusive licence issued by the Dubai Government to facilitate the supply of technical staff to customers in Dubai and the United Arab Emirate, and we remain unique in this respect today and the first to win a Queen’s Award for Enterprise – International Trade.
Since then the company has gone from strength to strength now employing over 80 people at its head office in Wallington with 21 overseas offices and partnerships looking after hundreds of contractors working in 85 countries and placing around a thousand candidates in permanent roles every year.
Penta’s success has been recognised with many industry and business awards, it has been profitable every year of its operation and is now a perfectly positioned to further increase its leadership position in the mobile computing and connectivity market and deliver capability across new technologies in both mature and emerging markets around the world.
Times Best Company To Work For
Penta has been an accredited Best Company to Work for since 2006 and for the past three years has received the three star ‘extraordinary’ workplace accreditation. Not only that but this year Penta staff voted it the 13th Best Small Company to Work for in the UK in The Sunday Times listing – pretty amazing results against a field of over 5,000 companies nationwide.
Penta’s core values of honesty, integrity, commitment and delivery are played out in the business every day and the passion and professionalism that has underpinned Penta’s growth into a global telecoms staffing brand also remain evident. Penta is a privately owned organisation where Paul and Richard remain at the heart of the operation, driving the business forward and continually demanding improvements and innovation across all aspects of the business.
