Being involved in our local community is important to all of us
This year we are a headline sponsor to Wallington Little League – a registered charity that provides free football for children up to the age of 13. The emphasis is on participation and teaching youngsters the importance of developing team spirit, self discipline and sportsmanship. Teams play every Saturday morning in our local park and members of staff have the opportunity to watch matches and to get involved.
With the well known benefits that a Ninetendo Wii can offer senior members of our society we donated one to Beddington and Wallington Senior Citizen’s club. Now members can enjoy keeping fit and active playing and competing against each other and it’s quickly become the most popular activity! We aare also taking 25 OAPs to Dick Whittington at the Wimbledon Theatre in December.
One of our 2011 initiatives was our involvement with Career Academies UK. We have six members of staff working with A level students on a one to one mentoring basis over the next 18 months which is proving very rewarding for all concerned. In addition two Career Academy students from Greenshaw High School near Sutton came to Penta for a Summer internship - one of them was so pleased with the experience he stayed on until he went back to college and has recruitment firmly as a preferred career option.
We encourage and support everyone at Penta to take up challenges and raise money. During the year we have had runners successfully completing the London Marathon for the NSPCC and the BUPA 10K Fun Run for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and we have a Penta team entered for the Great South Run in aid of our company charity DebRA. |
